Partial Dentures are dentures that replace some of your teeth. When you need partial dentures for the front teeth, our team at Pickett Family Dental can provide new false teeth or “partial dentures” that either clip around the existing teeth or via suction as long as it covers the palate.
When can you have partial dentures?
If you have teeth missing on one side of the mouth or on both sides. You can use temporary or permanent partial dentures depending on your specific case and how your gums and teeth adjust once the dentures have been placed.
Are partial dentures good?
Partial dentures are a great option to be used when you have one tooth or missing teeth spread out throughout your mouth because it prevent removing natural teeth. By saving your natural teeth, the dentures last longer and function better. It does take some time to get used to having a partial denture in your mouth.
What happens when you get partial dentures?
We have a 3-step process in replacing missing teeth with partial dentures.
- We want to check your teeth to make sure that they’re healthy. If there’s any gum disease or cavities, we’ll want to clean that up / fill them prior to moving on. Partial dentures require healthy teeth and gums. As long as the rest of your teeth are okay, we can move on to step two.
- The first visit for making the partial dentures focuses on creating impressions to make custom trays to create the trial partial dentures that are malleable enough to adjust them to fit your mouth properly.
- We use the trial dentures to create acrylic dentures.
Taking care of partial dentures
It’s important to get regular dental checkups and exams to ensure the health of your gums, mouth, and the care of the dentures. It’s also important to remove them every day for a regular cleaning. With partial dentures, you should remove all food particles and then leave it in water overnight. Also, don’t forget to brush and floss your actual teeth every night.
